Mission: Maximize the Impact of Harvard Cancer Research on Our Communities
Cancer has overtaken heart disease as the leading cause of death among Massachusetts residents and is the leading cause of death in each of Massachusetts' racial and ethnic groups. There are major disparities in cancer rates across racial and ethnic groups.
A core mission of the Dana Farber / Harvard Cancer Center is to identify and address major cancer burdens among Massachusetts residents. These activities involve all areas of cancer research, including fundamental discovery, etiology, prevention, early detection, health disparities, treatment, and survivorship research. The Cancer Equity and Engagement Initiative of the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center fosters research at a variety of levels to ensure that Harvard research addresses problems and needs of the communities we serve. DF/HCC is dedicated to reducing cancer risks, disparities, and deaths in Massachusetts and beyond. |
